GUIDELINES TO GET THE MOST BENEFIT AND SAFE ENJOYMENT FROM YOGA

•
Check with your doctor before starting yoga

• Inform the instructor of any injuries/limitations

• Avoid eating at least two hours before a yoga session

• Empty your bladder before the session

• Wear clothing that lets you move without binding

• Remove shoes and socks

• A "sticky" yoga mat will keep you from sliding

• Be gentle with yourself  – Work at your own pace – Don't push and strain

• If you arrive after class has begun, rest before starting to move with the others

• Breathe through your nose

The benefits from practicing Yoga are many. Yoga nourishes your body, mind and spirit. It leads to better health and balance and increased energy. Yoga teaches proper breathing and complete relaxation. Yoga improves posture, circulation, digestion, strength, flexibility and mental clarity. It is important to remember Yoga is not competitive and we each bring a different capacity to each session.

Testimonial:  I am in my sixties and have tried various forms of yoga and find that Karin's yoga style is practiced to the highest standard by far.  She has 35 years of experience, so I totally rest in the pose under her guidance.  Karin keeps the student safe and pain-free in their practice.   I additionally appreciate her studied emphasis on the breath before we begin active practice , during and after.  Breath is a very large part of this practice for balance, strength and calm throughout the class. - Linda Coons, Salem, Oregon
